A 40-year-old female presented with complaints of abdominal pain and heavy menstruation. Upon examination, her abdomen resembled that of a 28-30 week pregnant uterus, prompting further investigation via sonography, which revealed a very large uterine fibroid. After thorough counseling, the decision was made to proceed with a laparoscopic hysterectomy.
The surgery was executed seamlessly through laparoscopy, utilizing only four small incisions on the abdomen and resulting in minimal blood loss of approximately 10ml.
Remarkably, the patient was able to resume oral liquids just four hours post-surgery and was mobilized within six hours. Consequently, she was discharged within a mere 24 hours post-operation.
This case highlights the efficacy and advantages of laparoscopic techniques in managing uterine fibroids, offering patients quicker recovery times and minimal invasiveness.”
